The Poway Wrestling Foundation supports wrestling in Poway, California by sponsoring the Poway Slammers kids wrestling club and serving as the booster club for the Poway High School wrestling team.

Poway Slammers Kids Wrestling
The Poway Slammers Kids Wrestling Club provides youth ages 5 to 14 (8th grade) an opportunity to learn and develop their wrestling skills. The season runs from November until March. Sign-ups for the 2012-13 season will begin in late September. Check back then for more information and on-line registration. Poway High School Wrestling
CIF State Wrestling Tournament - With 5 state placers, Poway finished third at the 2012 CIF State Wrestling Tournament. Full results are available at the CIF State Website.
CIF Masters Tournament - Poway had 6 Masters champions (Miranda, Lopez, King, Bastow, Durr, and Simmons), 3 seconds (Doyle, Tovar, and Moreno), and 3 thirds (Lara, Taylor, and Cervantes). All 12 of these wrestlers will compete in the California State Wrestling Tournament. Poway won the Masters Tournment with 364.5 team points. Brawley was second with 149 team points. Track Wrestling
CIF Division I Championships - Poway scored 359.5 team points to win the CIF Division I Championships on Saturday. All 14 individual wrestlers placed third or higher: 9 champions, 4 second places, and a third place. Complete details can be found on Track Wrestling. The next step in qualifying of the State Tournament, the Masters Tournament, will be held on February 24 at Otay Ranch High School.
Poway Wins Reno Tournament of Champions - Bill as on of the toughest high school wrestling tournaments in the United States, the Reno Tournament of Champions draws teams from all over the country including such power houses as Easton, PA and Tulsa Union, OK. This year, more than 80 teams completed. Poway won the tournament with 270 points and 12 placer. Five Poway wrestlers earned All American status by placing in the top three: Connor King - 1st at 170, Tirso Lara - 2nd at 106, Ralph Tovar - 3rd at 126, Victor Lopez - 3rd at 132, and Richard Durr - 3rd at 220.
Poway Wins First Tournament of the Season - Poway won big at the Eldorado Tournament, the first tournament of the 2011-12 season, scoring 333.5 points. In second place was Victor Valley with 155 points.
